Worrying about myself

A few weeks ago I was complaining about the clutter in my house and blaming everyone else in my family.  Michelle challenged me to fill a box with stuff to take to DI.  I thought I could do that in 10 minutes, but as I started to clean I found 1 thing to put in the box and the rest was trash.  Broken toys, scraps of paper, and other random things that just needed to be thrown away.  The thing that got to me the most was that it was either my stuff or stuff that I should have gotten rid of a long time ago.  So my goal for this week is to not complain about my family's stuff.  I also want to:
-organize costumes
-sand blocks and cut paper for super saturday part 2
-blog about Halloween and Alex's birthday
-clean off the desk area

Menu Plan Sunday

Monday: Snake Sandwich
Tuesday: Chicken and dumplings
Wednesday:Chicken rolls
Thursday: meat and cornbread squares
Friday: Pizza (pepperoni, sausage)
Saturday: Steak
Sunday: Family gathering

Giving DI a bad name

I made my kids clean up the playroom yesterday. There was so much weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth. I kept telling them that what they don't pick up was going to DI. Later Tyler told me he hates DI and wishes it didn't exist. He asked me why they have to take his stuff. I tried to explain how it helps people, but I don't think I changed his opinion.

I feel like I have been productive lately. I made 2 scrapbook pages, took a box of stuff to DI, shredded my to shred box and bought a piano.

I have a lot going on this week, so my goal is to keep my kitchen clean. I'm not going to do anything but maintain what I've done so far. But coming soon, a chore chart.

Happy Pioneer Day

Thank you everyone for the pep talk to keep this blog. First I'd like to show you some things I have done.

I refreshed the bathroom! I'm really excited about this. I painted the walls a grey color, hung a shower curtain, and put hooks on the wall for the boys towels. I like how it turned out. I want to change the counter top too, but that will have to come later.

I also got this shoe organizer for the mud room for the boys to put their water bottles, sunglasses, and in the winter hats and mittens.

Now on to what I need to do.
Before Henry was born I was thinking about Edison's baby book and how I haven't started it yet. So I decided that I would do both at the same time. Every month I would make a page for Henry and a page for Edison. Henry is now 2 months old and I am 2 months behind. This week I will make both first month pages.

I will also shred the stuff that's been collecting in a box.

Have a good week!

A new reason to keep things clean

This morning I work to Edison standing right by my bed starring at me. As soon as he got my attention he said he needed to take a shower (what we do with Alex when he has an accident). I looked down to see that Edison was naked and there were piles of poop on the floor. There was a book that was next to my bed that I had to wipe down and there were some clothes that I don't think got hit, but I don't want to assume that, so they are getting washed.

It has been getting harder to keep a diaper on Edison, he wants to wear underwear. He has not been successful at getting anything in the potty, but maybe it's time to teach him if he won't keep a diaper on. So if he's going to be wandering around without a diaper, I need to keep all the books and anything that's not washable off the floor. I've been thinking I need a better way to keep the books picked up, this just gives me the push I need to get it done.

Retail therapy?

I've never been a big spender. As a teenager I went to the mall a lot for something to do, but I hardly ever bought anything. But lately I've been wanting to buy lots of things. Things to decorate the house, to help me get organized, it's just a really good sale, or new craft projects. The thing is that I buy these things and then they just sit there while I plan out the next thing I need to get. It's a little funny that I'm creating more clutter buying organizing things. I read an article that said when men are stressed they have the fight or flight instinct, but women have a hording instinct when they are stressed. I read this and thought "I'm not stressed in fact I am the complete opposite of stressed, I need things to do." Which is not true, I have plenty of things to do. Apparently my lack of stress has made me stressed. So I decided that after I buy something I need to get things done before I buy anything else. This way I get things done and I space out buying more stuff. Here is my "in order to buy something new I need to" list:

-get dog/turkey quilts to the quilter
-clean guest room
-organize professional pictures
-Scrapbook professional pictures
-put current pictures of the kids in their frame
-clean the kitchen counter
-clean, fix, and move things onto the new desk

I'm sure there are other things I should do, but those can wait until my next shopping trip.

Waiting

At the beginning of the year I was thinking about the things around my house that I wanted to do this year. Not resolutions, because I assume I won't get everything done since other things will come up, but a list of things I just want to do. I've been feeling like I need a project, but everything I want to do I need to wait for something before I can start. I need to wait for more money to be saved, for warmer weather, to not be pregnant, recycling to be picked up, .... So I started to think there wasn't anything I can work on. Then I looked at my kitchen and realized I'm not waiting for anything to clean my kitchen, or my room, or most rooms in my house. Just cleaning isn't fun, but it will make the biggest impact on how my house looks. So even though it's not what I want to do, it's what I need to do.

Happy news! I get to start a new craft project. I really like starting projects, it's getting to the end that is hard. I'm going to start a quilt for Edison. He will need a bigger blanket in a few months when we move him to a bigger bed. I also want to start working on scrap-booking again. There is lots to do there.

So my plan for the week is: Figure out what I am doing for Edison's quilt, one scrapbook page, and finish cleaning up from the holidays and Tyler's birthday.

Things I've finished

I finished the temple quilt for Bobbie right after Thanksgiving. Mostly due to the fact that my mother in law finished the binding for me. It was really nice and yay I'm done.

At 1:30 a.m. Christmas morning I finished Edison's stocking. Just in time for Santa to fill it and go to bed. The cross stitch turned out well, but when I sewed it together I realized I had made a few mistakes. Nothing that prevented me from making the stocking, but the sewing isn't even. I want to redo it since all I would have to do is take out the seams and sew it again, but I decided I'll wait and maybe it'll look better.
